Today was our company Halloween day since a bunch of people will be
off tomorrow. We have a costume contest, a spooky spread (pot luck),
department decorating and pumpkin decorating contests. I entered the
pumpkin contest with a Cinderella’s Coach (pictured). It turned out
really cute, but I didn’t win. :( the “blue whale” pumpkin won… I
have to admit it was cute though, she used excedrin for the teeth!
My pumpkin is still a winner in my heart! LOL
I know that my blog has been kind of weird because of the whole registration then comment thing. I took off the mandatory registration to see if it will work right. If I get inundated with spammers again, I may have to change something else…we’ll see. So for now, if you would kindly do me a favor and try to post a comment that would be awesome!
(Edited to add: The new settings currently allow comments without registration. If you’ve posted before then it posts immediately. If not, then it gets held in moderation until I approve it – which is why it may not show up right away! Once you’ve had a comment approved, future comments should post right away. We’ll see how this works! lol)

In the words of a super cool friend of mine….
OH. MY. HECK!!!
Found this on YouTube today! If you have kids you’ve probably already seen it. It’s from a show called LazyTown (what’s scary is that my husband recognized the song and knew the show!! Um… honey, we need to talk! lol).
So here it is… and I DARE you to get the song out of your head!!! lol
Yep, yesterday I aged a whole year… in one day! lol Seriously though, it was my birthday, and after a Multiple Sclerosis Society fundraiser in the morning, I had an awesome evening with Heather, Valita and Joanna! Thanks ladies for a great birthday… and to Heather for the fabulous chocolate fondue!
Tomorrow morning we’re having a bake sale at the office for United Way, so of course I had to do a cake! I had this great idea to do a bunch of little cakes with this new flower pan I bought, but um, they didn’t turn out so well. So plan B was this… a Chocolate Irish Cream cake with Irish Buttercream Icing, and fondant flowers & leaves on top.

Here is my final cake from this class. It’s very sad, not because of the cake, but because the day before the last class, the owner announced that she is closing the store. Whah!! So we didn’t really do a cake in the last class, we just shopped and comiserated with each other. The good news is that I got some great deals and am ready to
take the next steps. The bad news is that now I have to find somewhere else to learn about gumpaste, etc!
The decorating you see here was done after I got home after the shopping and comiserating! :)
We had a special surprise tonight after dinner. well sort of at dinner. lol For his gift, we gave my dad tickets to the Mavericks game tonight! I kind of cheated. our gift limit was $5, and these were $150 seats, but I kind of didn’t cheat because my boss gave them to me from his season tickets! :o) I’m such a cheater!
Here’s a few shots from the game… me and Jack, my guys (Jack, my dad and my brother), and a panorama of the game.
The panorama shot is actually four shots merged together (which is why you see players at both ends of the court! lol). If you have any version of Photoshop, go to File -> Automate -> Photomerge and Photoshop will automagically merge together photos that have common pieces. So it will put your panoramas together for you! Cool, huh? Now you can never say you didn’t learn anything from this blog! lol
Here it is, the birthday cake for six people, and yes, that is over 240 candles on the cake!! I’ll try to post another picture with them all lit!
EDIT: Here’s the photo of the lit candles…. well as many as we could get lit before we started getting scared that we’d burn the restaurant down! And we had lots of tables around us watching us carefully! lol Jack started lighting one side, and the candles were so close together that they began lighting each other, which is why there’s a big flame on one end! And we didn’t have a lighter so we were doing this all with matches… YIKES! We fore-went the “Happy Birthday” song and just went straight for blowing out the candles! Whew… if you ever think that covering a cake with candles is a good idea because it will be funny to see them all lit… think again! Or have a fire extinguisher ready!!!
Saturday was the Advanced Soldering class taught by the fabulous Heather Ales. Afterwards we hung out at her house for workshop time. I got quite a few charms done. I’m hoping to get some up on Etsy sometime this week.
Today I spent most of the day finishing up a freelance graphic design project. This thing has been an absolute BEAR!! I swear I’ve been working on it for a month! But it is DONE!! Woo hoo!!
And now, we start another week…
Yes, I have another cake class this week. We’re going to learn about fondant!
An intermediate soldering class on Saturday.
Then Saturday night we have a family birthday dinner… all the adults in our immediate family have birthdays in October or December (except Jack, whose birthday was at the tail end of September). So we are celebrating them all with one dinner… which I’ll make the cake for, of course! lol
As far as the week is concerned, lots of work stuff getting me stressed out, and I need to get focused on scanning my grandmother’s photos so I can take them back to her at Thanksgiving!

I’m so glad I took a photo of this cake last night because when I got to work this morning it was all slid over to one side. Really pathetic! But it tastes good!!! LOL

Another $150 in fraudulent charges hit my account today! Two separate charges, at the same gas station. Oh, and it’s only one exit down the highway from the previous two charges! Ugh! So I’m off to the bank tomorrow to file dispute reports. I called the gas station and the manager wouldn’t give me any information unless I came in and showed him the dispute report and ID that I am who I say I am. Doofus! Had you taken that much effort to check the criminal in the first place, we wouldn’t even be having this conversation!!!

Went by the bank today to make a deposit. After depositing over $100 the teller says “Do you know you still have a negative balance?” Um, what?!?! Excuse me?!?!
Looks like someone got a hold of my debit card number this week! They spent over $200 at local gas stations! OMG!! I am so careful with my card, I don’t use it online except through Paypal. And I know that wasn’t it because this were LOCAL gas stations!
I’m so ticked right now… funny thing is that I worked with the manager of one of the gas stations at the ballpark this summer! So I’m going to call him on Monday and see if he can help me out with surveillance video and then I’m going to the police. These crooks have messed with the WRONG person!!!!
When our waiter found put we were celebrating our anniversary he insisted on bringing us a complimentary dessert… This AWESOME cheesecake!!! It was seriously wonderful, not that frozen cheesecake like most places serve! LOL.
We decided to celebrate our anniversary by dinning at Fogo de Chao this evening. Cool experience but seriously pricey!! Oh, and definitely NOT a place for vegetarians! LOL.
If you’re not familiar with this place, basically you have a little card that is green on one side and red on the other. When you want them to bring food, you turn it to the green side. When you want them to stop, you turn it to the red side.
What kind of food? Well… meat! Seriously, it’s men running around with meat loaded up on these sword looking ka bob thingys! Bacon wrapped chicken, filet mingon, garlic steak, lamb, prime rib, parmesan pork loin, and much more! Then you get sides (those little silver dishes in the middle) of mashed potatoes, polenta and caramelized banana or plaintains (we couldn’t figure out which it was!).
It’s been a busy day and I’m going to divide this into several posts since I can only send one photo at a time! LOL
First off, this little guy. The black one, showed up on our doorstep after almost getting run over on a major street. He’s going to stay with us for a couple of days while we put out some flyers and signs trying to find his family. Right now he’s getting along well with our almost-16 year old rat terrier. And as you can see in the photo our neighbor’s shitzhu decided to dig under the fence and say hello!!
