I’m playing around with a few themes…. the bright yellow was just too much for me!  So if you come back and it looks completely different, don’t worry!  It’s just me… playing!

Would love your thoughts on any of the designs, just post your opinion to the comments.  After all, YOU’RE the one who has to look at it! lol

P.S. So I finally signed up for Twitter, but I’m clueless… anyone have any tips?

Now we can really prepare… Jack surgery is scheduled for Monday, March 9th at 7:00 AM, which means we have to be there at 5:45 AM!  Yikes!  It will be interesting to say the least.  He’ll be there overnight, so we’ll be coming home sometime on Tuesday.  I’ll try and blog with his update as I can.

Jack is completely and totally excited!  Me, I’m a little nervous!  lol

Your prayers are completely and totally requested!  It’s yet a new chapter in our lives!

Since Jack’s accident he’s had trouble getting around due to pain and swelling in his leg and foot.  He’s built up his stamina, but it’s been a catch-22 – his injury prevents him from a lot of physical activity, but his weight and lack of physical activity hinders the healing in his leg.

For the past six months, Jack has been seeing the doctor, the nutritionist and even the psychologist, in prepation for having LapBand surgery.  Well, the six months are up, the information has been submitted, insurance has been approved, and now it’s time.

Jack has the final meeting with his surgeon this week, and they’ll schedule his surgery.  We’re hoping they’ll be willing to schedule it for next Monday, March 3rd.  He’s already starting on the preparation diet… soft foods for a week, then liquids only for the 2-3 days before.  We’ll find out for sure on Tuesday when the surgery will be.

It’s strange.  Jack has had so many surgeries.  But they’ve all been necessary, not elective.  And… they’ve all been at the same hospital, we’ve known what to expect.  This time, it’s all unknown… unknown place, unknown people, unknown processes.  So it will be interesting.

Keep us in your prayers.  I’ll be updating here as we know more.

Go Lance!

Actually I guess I should really say Go Levi since he’s actually
winning right now! LOL

Jack & I have been recording and watching the Tour of California this
week. Usually as we are riding our bikes on the trainer in the garage!
LOL Gives us a better view I guess. It’s neat to see all the yellow,
and the emphasis he’s putting on the foundation this time around. For
example they gave everyone yellow chalk to write messages and drawings
on the streets (during the Tour de France they actually paint on the
roads!). They are encouraging people to take a photo of their artwork
and post it on a foundation related web page… I’ll have to find the
link.

Jack and I signed up for the LIVESTRONG Challenge in Austin later this
year. It’s a bike ride that raises money for the Lance Armstrong
Foundation… Very cool! So that’s in October and if you know anyone
who wants to join our team, shoot me an email! You can also click here or on the badge in the sidebar to make a donation.

Jack named our team Sizeable Cyclists! LOL For those of us who are a
little plumper than the average cyclist! :o)

As a side note, when Lance won the jersey in this picture, I posted my
very first post to this blog
. That seems like forever ago!

Kind of funny that I have to explain this, but this post is especially for Heather Krans-Bauers. (I have multiple friends named Heather! Lol)

I’ve been working on a project for my dad, scanning all of his old slides. It’s been really neat seeing all of these old photos again, some things I remember and some I don’t. But mainly it’s been really neat seeing old friends from way back when. These are some of those photos.

It’s an amazing thing in life when you find a true friend. One that despite the years and despite the miles, it lasts. That’s us. Heather Showalter and Heather Krans (because our mothers always called us by our full names when we were together, that’s what we called each other too! Funny thing, now we’re both Heather B!) She was at my first birthday party, and she was my matron of honor (she beat me to the altar, lol!) Lifelong friendship like this is rare, and I will always, always treasure ours.

P.S. She’s the blonde, I’m the brunette. Sorry Heather, I guess now I’ve revealed our true hair colors! :o)

I think these would have been 1978

And I’m guessing these are 1980 or ’81 (gotta love the indoor playground at McDonalds in Alaska!)

At my wedding in 2001.

In Colorado when I was visiting during a business trip in 2005.

We went to Austin last weekend for my niece’s birthday party.
Afterwards we headed downtown to check out Mellow Johnny’s, Lance
Armstrong’s bike shop. Very cool! They had all of his yellow jerseys
hanging up, and several of his past bikes. Then we went down to South
Congress with my brother and sister in law. I enlightened them to
Uncommon Goods, a fabulous antique/junk shop, while Jack went to a
yarn store across the street (he wants to knit some socks!). Then we
headed down to the corner and this cute cupcake stand that’s really an
old Airstream trailer! It’s called Hey Cupcake. I had a Michael
Jackson, which is white icing with chocolate underneath! LOL Our
evening ended with wings at Pluckers, and then Jack and I headed back
to Dallas.

So it was a very quick, very tiring trip! But it was lots of fun! I
wouldn’t mind living in Austin!
